Field of Honor® November 9-16 2019 Special Thanks Two things happened over the last year that gave birth to the idea of a Fields of Honor for Graham County. First a neighbor and a friend of mine Mrs. Peggy Hunter was traveling somewhere last year and saw a community displaying a small sign on a street pole in honor of someone serving in the military. It sparked her interest so she took a picture and sent it to me asking, "why can't we do something like this in our community?" Then she said the magic word City managers love to hear "I will be willing to pay to get some done for my family".I agreed it was a novel idea, so I started thinking of how I am going to make this happen. Then on one of my mini-vacations, with my retired wife who loves to travel, we were visiting a friend in Murrieta California, Rosie Weckman. Rosie took us downtown to the city hall to see this beautiful display of flags in honor of veteran's week. The two ideas gelled for me that weekend and I came back home and started to plan the event. So thanks to these three special ladies Theresa for dragging me on one of her trips, Rosie for showing me the display in Murrieta and Peggy for wanting to do something to honor the many members of her family who served or is serving in the arm forces we now have Safford first Field of Honor Putting this together was fun and an honor.
