RESOLUTION 21-11-20 IN APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE FOR THE FREEPORT-MCMORAN FOUNDATION WHEREAS, the Mines of Morenci have been an integral part of our culture, economy, history, livelihoods, prosperity, traditions, and community values since 1881; and WHEREAS, Freeport McMORan, the current operators of the Mines of Morenci, continue this community partnership to this day and well into the foreseeable future and take great interest and pride in the welfare of the communities in which their Employees reside; and WHEREAS, Freeport McMoRan Foundation established the Greenlee County Community Investment Fund Committee to support local Asset and Infrastructure Renewal Projects on behalf of the company and its operations; and WHEREAS, the Town of Duncan, Arizona requested grant assistance from the Freeport McMORan Foundation to upgrade the Town's aging water/ wastewater infrastructure by using renewable energy sources; and WHEREAS, the grant application made by the Town of Duncan successfully met the criteria of the Greenlee County Community Investment Fund; and WHEREAS, on October 13, 2021, the Freeport McMoran Foundation generously granted $270,000 to the Town of Duncan for the Town's Asset and Infrastructure Renewal Project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Duncan, Arizona expresses appreciation to the Freeport McMoRan Foundation and the Greenlee County Community Investment Fund Committee for their interest in this Community and gratitude for the $270,000 grant for our Asset and Infrastructure Renewal Project.
